(A True Story of Patience and a Small Victory)

Hello everyone! As you know, learning English requires patience, and so does gardening! I want to tell you a short, dramatic story about my two olive trees. Back in 2019, I bought two small olive seedlings. I had a vision of beautiful Mediterranean fruit, but for six long years, I saw only frustration! Every spring, the trees would proudly show off their white flowers—hundreds of them!—but as summer arrived, they would all fall off. No olives. Year after year, it was the same disappointment. It felt like a small failure, a continuous lesson in waiting without reward.

Then came the spring of 2025. On one of the trees, hidden among the silvery-green leaves, was a tiny, perfect green ball. An olive! Only one, but it was a magnificent victory. All summer long, I watched it. I checked it every morning, worried about birds, insects, or bad weather. It grew from a tiny pebble to a plump, deep green oval. Just last month, I saw the color change—it was turning a beautiful, rich black-purple! My perfect olive was finally ripe.

Last weekend, the saga came to its emotional end. I found it on the ground beneath the tree. The single olive, heavy and perfect, had finally fallen. Six years of effort, hope, and patience, all distilled into this one precious fruit. So, what should I do with this legendary olive? Should I eat it,try to cure it, plant the pit, or perhaps make a special display for it? This tiny olive is a powerful reminder that sometimes, the best things are worth the longest wait.
