Hello, everyone.
I moved to my hometown from Tokyo a year ago for a new job, and continue Tokyoeigo’s lesson online. Now, let me tell about my hometown Kushiro.
Kushiro is a mid-sized city in the east area of Hokkaido, which has the Kushiro Wetlands. There are many rare species of plants and animals in the Kushiro Wetlands. You may have seen former 1,000 yen bills printed with the picture of two red-crowned cranes. The wetland is a habitat for the cranes which are known as the endangered species.
Moreover, Kushiro is a famous port town where the largest number of fish are caught in Japan. You can eat many kinds of seafood all year round, such as crab, mackerel, salmon, salmon roe, scallop, cod roe, and so on. The view of the sun set over the port town is very beautiful.

I wanted to take a picture of the sunset, but the sun went down in an instant😢You can find many photos of the beautiful sunsets in Kushiro on the internet.
On the other hand, Kushiro has many serious social issues, including an aging society and decreasing population. Public transportation is not available and there are no major department stores. However, most people can get to their destination by using their own cars instead of public transportation. Also, nowadays, online shopping is very popular, therefore they don’t feel inconvenienced about shopping.
I recommend enjoying nature, eating delicious seafood, or short-staying during summer in Kushiro!
Additionally, Kushiro is characterized by its cool climate all year around. Because of the fog, its climate keeps cool and the average summer temperature is about twenty-two degrees in Kushiro. You can avoid the extreme hot weather and the crowd of the city if you stay in Kushiro.

Many kinds of seafood are sold at the market. You can also buy a variety of seafood at Hokkaido exhibitions held regularly by department stores.
